Preschool

Early Preschool (9:30 and 11:00)

Once they’re 24 months old, little ones are ready to join this class. Preschoolers start to explore the Bible and learn about their faith in ways that make sense to them. They discover that church is a fun and exciting place where they can hear stories, sing songs, and play with friends. Best of all, it’s a place where they learn about Jesus and His love!

Pre-K & Kindergarten

Teachers: Barb Gerleman (9:30), Hilary Guth (11:00)
Kids are ready for our Pre-K & K class when they start their last year of preschool. As kids become ever more aware of the wide world around them, exploring the Bible teaches them who God is and how He works in their lives. Preschoolers and Kindergarteners encounter new challenges and adventures every day, and this is the perfect time to learn that Jesus is there to love and help them through it all.

Curriculum

Our Early Preschool and Pre-K & K classes use Group’s “Buzz” Curriculum, a curriculum that engages kids and keeps them excited about learning.  Each week, kids learn another story about how “God is Loving”. Lots of fun activities keep kids interested and involved as they experience each week’s Bible point through stories, games, crafts, and more. God made our kids active, curious, and eager to explore: we offer lessons that give them plenty to see and hear, and even more to do!

Whiskers and Pockets
The kids in these classes love getting weekly visits from Whiskers the Mouse (Early Preschool) and Pockets the Kangaroo (Pre-K & K).  These cute and cuddly puppets turn students into teachers by asking for their advice on all sorts of problems—most of which sound pretty familiar! Kids help Whiskers and Pockets by telling them what they’ve learned and explaining how lessons connect to their lives. Preschoolers love sharing their experience with a furry friend; we love how chats with a puppet friend reinforce each week’s Bible point and teach kids to live out their faith.

Health and Safety

The health, safety, and security of each child are of the utmost importance to us. Our dedicated staff and volunteers are committed to maintaining a safe, age-appropriate environment for each child. All Sunday School classes at TVPC adhere to rigorous guidelines laid out in the church’s Child and Youth Safety Policy. We ask parents to help in the following ways:

  1. Fill out a brief registration form for each child.
  2. Always sign children in and out of Sunday School. Teachers can only release children to their parents or other specifically authorized adults.
  3. Keep children home if they show symptoms of contagious illness (fever, cough, runny nose, etc.).
  4. Let teachers know about all allergies and other relevant medical conditions. We especially need to know about food allergies: we often have snacks in these classes, and we don’t want anyone to get sick!
